Builder gets prison time for mortgage scheme.

GREELEY, Colo.—A Weld County builder has been sentenced to 31 years in prison for his role in a mortgage scheme that prosecutors say left many Greeley-area families in foreclosure and defrauded lenders.

Fifty-two-year-old Mark Strodtman of Windsor was sentenced Tuesday. He was convicted in November of racketeering, 11 counts of forgery and 11 counts of theft of $15,000 or more.

Homeowners accused Strodtman and his associates of tricking them into buying homes they couldn't afford.

Strodtman was arrested in Mexico last year.

Golly. A crooked builder that parted fools from their money. In lily-white squeaky-clean Weld county. Lucky this guy was caught. Now we can all sleep easier because this kind of crime will never happen in Colorado again.


Certainly not in Weld County again.
