So Much for 'Respecting the Troops'

"Well, if I had to choose — in terms of being a Republican — I’d go with Rush Limbaugh, I think. My take on it was that Colin had already left the party. I didn’t know he was still a Republican."
- Dick Cheney

The hypocrisy is breathtaking.

Here's who our ex-vice-president is dissing (from Wikipedia):

Colin Luther Powell (born April 5, 1937) is an American statesman and a former four-star general in the United States Army. He was the 65th United States Secretary of State (2001-2005), serving under President George W. Bush. He was the first African American appointed to that position.[1][2][3][4] During his military career, Powell also served as National Security Advisor (1987–1989), as Commander-in-Chief, U.S. Army Forces Command (1989) and as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (1989–1993), holding the latter position during the Gulf War. He was the first, and so far the only, African American to serve on the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

This is 100% bona-fide proof that the Republican Party does not now, or has ever, respected our troops.

If Powell hasn't earned the right to speak his mind and get respect, who has?

Cheney, by any tradition, should immediately fall on his sword - oh, wait... that tradition is for real soldiers - who served and did something dishonorable - Cheney's just a shitty politician who lied and threatened his way -almost- to the top.

The man should be brought up on charges of treason. The number of counts would be virtually endless! And then he should be renditioned. Oops, we don't do that anymore since we brought back principled government. Well, OK, "revenge is mine sayest..."

You'd think after his recent health issues he might mellow a bit, show some awareness of the human condition... but no. Which tells me he's not expecting to EVER die... which true evil never does.
